10 Tips Towards Total Transformation

The Biggest Loser, from zero to a hero, basic to baddie (makeup looks), poor to rich; transformation is popular on all media platforms. Drastic personal change is an action we love to watch and be a part of. It pulls on our feelings because we love those surprising stories of the unlikely person coming out on top. Real life drama we can relate with.

Experiencing our own transformations is even better! Loosing the extra pounds (me), getting that coveted degree (me), moving up the professional ranks, getting that cute hair style that does wonders to your look (me). These changes are shifts to a higher level.

Or are they? What is the common thread with all those transformations listed?

Every transformation written above is based on the outside, superficial part of the person. Tangible changes evident to our eyes. These physical shifts aren’t bad. But they can lose merit if the transformation isn’t grounded.

True transformation is found in our hearts and minds. A metamorphosis on the inside of us. A lasting change of how we think, feel and choose. Something that is intangible and can never be taken away.

True transformation is rooted in Christ.

When we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior a renewal process starts. The old, guilty, dirty, shameless, sinful me (and you) is no more. Wiped clean by the pure beauty of Christ’s blood. A sacrifice like no other. We are immediately crystal clear, clean, fresh and new. Able to be in the presence of our holy God.

Some transformation through Jesus takes time. Many of these changes depend on ourselves. We have to die daily to our old ways and live by the Spirit. Being intentional of our thoughts and actions, in the home and out. Eventually becoming more and more like Jesus – sanctification. Living holy because He is holy. Imitating God.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12: 2 (NIV)

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV
